Acts Engaged Living Program Recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association

Acts is pleased to announce that its Acts Engaged Living (AEL) Modular Training program has been recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association as being on the leading edge of person-centered care for those living with dementia.

“The Acts Engaged Living program reflects our commitment to implementing the latest evidenced-based approaches to dementia care,” said Julie Ackley, Acts Corporate Director of Memory Care.

AEL incorporates the Alzheimer’s Association’s evidenced-based dementia care practice recommendations in the following topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.

High-quality dementia care training can lead to improvement in communication between caregivers and people living with dementia, a reduction in dementia-related behaviors and an increase in job satisfaction and staff retention.

“By taking this step, Acts has demonstrated their commitment to providing evidence-based training with a person-centered focus at its core," said Beth Kallmyer, MSW, vice president of care and support at the Alzheimer’s Association.
