For Linda Jarow, moving into a one-bedroom Simplified Living apartment at Southampton Estates wasn't about giving anything up. It was about creating space for a life filled with the things that matter most.

Five months after making the move, she says simplifying her home has brought unexpected freedom—more time for hobbies, volunteering, cooking and connecting with neighbors, without sacrificing comfort.

Everything She Needs—Nothing She Doesn't

Linda intentionally chose a home that would complement her minimalist lifestyle, and she's found that every inch of her apartment serves a purpose.

"The apartment has room for everything that I need," she said. "I wanted something very simple with lots of storage."

From the thoughtfully designed walk-in closet to the built-in shelving and drawers, Linda has found a place for everything.

"I like the convenience of the large walk-in closet," she said. "There are shelves already there, a built-in shoe rack and four built-in drawers that I use as my linen closet."

She says the apartment has eliminated the need for excess furniture or belongings.

"That's the biggest thing," Linda said. "I have room for what I need. I have not missed anything, and I have not gone out and purchased any new furniture. It's just convenient."

Smartly and Beautifully Designed

While the apartment's practical design first caught her attention, it's the little details that have made it feel like home.

"I enjoy the balcony," Linda said. "I like being outside. I like the fresh air. The outdoor gardens are beautiful."

Even one of the most functional rooms in the apartment has become a favorite.

"I have to say, my favorite room is the shower," she said. "The tile is beautiful. It looks like a hotel shower."

Linda loves to cook, and her simplified kitchen has proven that having less doesn't mean doing less.

"The kitchen is perfect," she said. "I like to cook and donate food to charity. I kept one soup pot, one large pan, one skillet—one of everything. And I haven't missed not having two of everything."

For Linda, simplifying wasn't about sacrifice. It was about discovering just how little she actually needed.

More Time for What Matters

The biggest benefit of Simplified Living isn't the apartment itself—it's the lifestyle it makes possible.

"It's really simple, life is simple," Linda said. "There's less to clean up. The best part for me about Simplified Living is not having to do a lot of cleaning. It gives me time to do a puzzle, word puzzles, crochet, cook for charity, and if I want to go downstairs and be social, there's that opportunity."

Linda swims three or four times each week and volunteers in the community's assisted living neighborhood, where she enjoys spending time with residents.

"I'm much more active living here than I was in my old home," Linda said. "There is so much more available to me now."

Instead of spending her days maintaining a larger home, Linda spends them doing what brings her joy. She's found that simplifying her home has made room for a richer, more fulfilling life.
