Residents Thrilled for Executive Director Susan George’s Return “Home”

Residents and staff of Edgewater at Boca Pointe welcomed back Susan George as Executive Director, in a heartfelt, jubilant celebration at the retirement community in early March.

“There are not enough words to express how absolutely thrilled us residents are. That doesn’t quite capture it,” said Marlyn Kefauver, a longtime resident of Edgewater at Boca Pointe. “Susan is a smart, competent, wonderful person, and she has empathy, truly cares about us.”

“All of us just can’t help but be drawn to her and feel a warmth,” she added. “You can hardly put it in words the excitement; we are so happy about her return.”

Susan has over 30 years of experience leading top level continuing care retirement communities within the senior care industry. She began her career with Acts Retirement-Life Communities in 2008 and later transitioned to executive director at Edgewater at Boca Pointe in 2013. She returns to Edgewater at Boca Pointe after five years at St. Andrews Estates, also in Boca Raton, where she served as an executive director and been an integral part of its recent success.

“Susan has served the Acts family with distinction and is well respected for her attention to detail and compassion for all stakeholders in her decision making,” said George Bryan,  vice president of Acts Southeast region.

“Her vast experience in community operations and strong work ethic personifies the Acts mission, vision and culture,” Bryan said.

“The event was so warm and welcoming,” said Susan George, clearly touched by the celebratory reception for her return. Residents showed up in an astounding turnout.

“It’s not only been great reconnecting with residents and team members who I served in the past, but also meeting newer residents and staff. I look forward to renewing past relationships and making new ones,” she added.

“This is my first time meeting her, but I have heard she’s phenomenal and look forward to her return, and hope she lives up to her reputation,” said Mark Kalish, a resident who recently moved to the community.

“I’ve been here eight years and I’m the greatest fan of Susan George. I’m elated!” said resident Rosemary Krieger.

“I moved in later and only had the pleasure of her leadership for three months, but it was a wonderful three months,” said resident Rita Wachf. “I am so happy she’s back.”
