Matthews Glen, an Acts Retirement-Life Community in Matthews, North Carolina, changed its name from Plantation Estates last year. The community also petitioned the town of Matthews and Mecklenburg County to change its street names, which was effective June 15.
Steve Messer, executive director of Matthews Glen, said, “The decision is representative of the values we have always stood for and our larger commitment to be recognized as an open, inclusive and diverse community.”
