Yesterday, an amazing Plantation Estates resident was featured on NBC Charlotte TV, helping to bring attention to the whole community's 5K fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association's "The Longest Day" event.
Bob Hamrin, 84 years old, a former marathon runner, decided to run the full three miles in the 5K event, and in doing so was the ultimate testament to Active Aging, which caught the attention of the station.
The NBC crew came all the way to Matthews with cameras, in addition to local news media, to personally speak with Bob. Theresa Perry, Corporate Director of Wellness and one of the event's key organizers, was also interviewed.
To date, Plantation Estates' "The Longest Day" fundraiser has raised more than $13,600 dollars for the Alzheimer's Association, which directs awareness and research efforts.
The segment aired on NBC Charlotte (WCNC-TV, Channel 22) twice yesterday with two minute-long segments, one at noon and one at 4pm.
