Media spotlight shines on Rev. James Kelly, who continues to inspire with 75 years of priesthood and a century of life!

Normandy Farms Estates had the honor of celebrating a remarkable milestone: the 100th birthday of Rev. James Kelly, a cherished resident and Catholic priest who continues to inspire our community.

Born on January 7, 1925, in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia, Father Kelly knew his calling at a young age.

He told the Associated Press, “When I was 4 or 5 years old, I’d play Mass. I always had a little altar in my room… and give candy as Communion to everyone.”

Fast forward nearly a century, and Kelly is still serving with that same joy and purpose at Normandy Farms Estates. He shares Mass daily in his apartment with fellow residents and is socially active both inside and outside the community.

To be living independently and ministering to others at age 100 is nothing short of extraordinary!

Rev. Kelly also shared incredible stories of his past. He spoke to ABC6 about many special memories, including traveling to more than 100 countries, meeting Saint John Paul II, and Saint Teresa of Kolkata, also known as Mother Theresa.

His secret to longevity? Kelly laughingly told the AP, “I drink lots of milk... and I say lots of prayers.”
