What is the best age to move into a CCRC?

There isn’t a single “best” age to move into a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)—it really depends on your lifestyle, health, and long-term planning goals. Most residents move into a CCRC in their 70s. Some choose to move earlier (mid to late 60s) to lock in a desired residence and enjoy independent living amenities sooner.

CCRCs provide a continuum of care, so moving earlier can give peace of mind that future care needs are covered. Moving while you’re active also maximizes enjoyment of activities, clubs, and amenities.

Ideally, the best time is when you’re ready to prioritize lifestyle, security, and long-term care planning—not just when a health concern arises. Moving in earlier often means more time to enjoy the community, build friendships, and have peace of mind about the future.
