What kind of amenities and healthcare services are typically offered in Delaware CCRCs?

Amenities in Delaware CCRCs typically include:

  • Dining services with nutritious meals and sometimes multiple dining venues.
  • Wellness programs such as fitness classes, pools, walking trails, and health screenings.
  • Medication management and therapy services including physical and occupational therapy.
  • Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance options, so you can live maintenance free.
  • Transportation services for shopping and outings.
  • 24/7 safety and emergency response systems for peace of mind.
  • Clubs, classes, and group activities (arts, wellness, games, outings).
  • Community spaces such as lounges, libraries, and event rooms.
  • Convenience services like beauty/barber salons, on-campus mini-market.

For healthcare needs, CCRCs differ from typical retirement communities by providing a continuum of care in one place, so support evolves with your needs. Residents move into independent living and live in private residences (apartment, cottage, villa) with full access to the community’s amenities and social life. If it’s ever needed, they can transition to Assisted Living (provides help with daily activities like bathing, dressing and medication management), or Skilled Nursing Care (which offers round-the-clock medical care and rehabilitation for more intense needs) directly on campus, possibly with no increase in monthly costs depending on the type of Life Care contract.

Memory Care is also available in many communities, offering secure, specialized support for residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia. All of these levels are available on campus so you don’t have to relocate as needs change.
