Acts Retirement-Life Communities, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit senior living organizations, has elected Elizabeth (Barrie) Frazier Meima to the Board of Directors of Heron Point of Chestertown, a not-for-profit affiliate of Acts Retirement-Life Communities located in Chestertown, Maryland.  The community is home to approximately 295 residents.

Ms. Meima is a resident of Heron Point where she continues a legacy of service.  After graduating from the University of Maryland, Ms. Meima has led a life of service in the non-profit sector, continuing a long family history of service. Ms. Meima has been faithful to that commitment of service to others across many decades serving in leadership roles for a variety of organizations, including the Chester Valley Health Foundation (fighting to preserve the hospital in Chestertown), United Way of Kent County, George Preston Marshall Foundation, and the National Legal Aid & Defender Association.  Her commitment to service has continued at Heron Point having served as President of the Heron Point Resident Council and as Chair of the Resident Renovations Committee. Ms. Meima noted that “if there is a unifying theme to my life it is that service to others is both a joy and the duty of those of us who are blessed with health, opportunities and the support of a strong loving family.”

“We are very pleased to have Barrie Meima serve as a member of our Board of Directors,” said Acts’ President and Heron Point of Chestertown Board Chair Karen I. Christiansen. “Barrie brings a history of service, a commitment that supports our mission, and the unique perspective as an Acts resident, that will be a benefit to our governance team as we continue to enhance our mission and position ourselves for the future of senior living services.”
