The Terraces at Bonita Springs Welcomes First Chaplain

The Terraces at Bonita Springs is welcoming Joe Weaver as its first-ever chaplain, adding a new dimension to the community’s commitment to whole-person wellness.

Weaver brings nearly 20 years of pastoral ministry experience to The Terraces, along with more than two decades of experience in worship and music ministry. Throughout his career, he has focused on pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and building communities where people feel connected, supported, and encouraged.

Chaplain Joe’s arrival reflects a broader philosophy at Acts Retirement-Life Communities: wellness is about much more than physical health.

Acts takes a whole-person approach to resident well-being, recognizing that living well encompasses the physical, nutritional, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions of life.

Physical wellness may involve staying active and maintaining strength and mobility. Nutritional wellness supports healthy eating and good nutrition. Emotional and social wellness can come through relationships, meaningful activities and a strong sense of belonging. Intellectual wellness encourages residents to remain curious, learn new things and challenge themselves.

And spiritual wellness provides another important opportunity for residents to find meaning, purpose, connection, and peace.

Spiritual wellness can look different for everyone. For some, it may involve worship, prayer, or exploring their faith. For others, it may mean reflection, discovering a deeper sense of purpose, connecting with others, or simply having someone available to listen and offer support during life’s transitions. Chaplain Joe will be a resource for residents for any of their spiritual needs.

A new chapter at The Terraces

Weaver previously served as a multi-campus pastor at Villas Wesleyan Church in Fort Myers and as Worship & Associate Pastor at Cross Timbers Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He holds a Master of Worship Studies with a leadership cognate from Liberty University and is an ordained minister.

Outside of his ministry work, Weaver enjoys spending time with his wife their twin daughters. He is also a musician who previously recorded three studio albums and spent 12 years traveling and performing with his band.

For Weaver, his new role is ultimately about sharing in the lives of residents and helping create a community where people can experience life’s joys — and navigate its challenges — together.

“Each day with the residents is an adventure and a delight,” Weaver says. “And I am filled with gratitude to be part of such an incredible community.”
