The Terraces at Bonita Springs is celebrating another win after being named a top pick in the 2026 Naples Daily News Bonita Springs Community’s Choice Awards. Readers voted The Terraces the winner in two categories: Best Retirement/55+ Community and Best Assisted/Senior Living Community — a distinction the community has swept in prior years as well as a reflection of its long-standing reputation for excellence.

The winners were announced at the Bonita Springs Community’s Choice Awards gala, held September 11 at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples.

“We believe that our culture is very family-like, and many times we’re referred to as a boutique community because we have a smaller number than some of the other communities in the area,” said Ann Walsh, Executive Director of The Terraces at Bonita Springs. “The other unique feature of The Terraces is that we’re under one roof. If you need to visit a neighbor, friend or spouse in assisted living, you just walk through the hallways over to visit them.”

A large, multi-story building with lit windows stands by a pond with two fountains, under a cloudy evening sky.

That sense of connection extends into daily life at The Terraces, where an active social calendar keeps residents engaged. “Our residents are very active, and our big sport here at The Terraces is bocce,” Walsh said. “We have a full-size regulation-style bocce court here at The Terraces, and they also travel to other bocce communities in the Bonita Springs area. We also have residents who enjoy hiking, all the wonderful entertainment, card games and live music.”

Residents say the recognition reflects what they experience every day. “It’s like living in a resort. Everyone seems willing to go the extra mile for you and always greet you with a smile,” said Debbie Capraro, a resident of The Terraces at Bonita Springs.

“We have a saying that says, you could be two years too early, but you can’t be ten minutes too late,” Ann Walsh said. “So we find that residents who really want to plan for their future — this is a great decision to move into a CCRC like The Terraces, because you come in, you can enjoy all the amenities and independent living, but should your needs change, all of those other services are available to you right here in the community.”

“My children are delighted. It’s a gift to them because they’re no longer worried. All my needs are taken care of,” said Lucille Labarbera, a resident of The Terraces at Bonita Springs.

The Bonita Springs Community’s Choice Awards are hosted annually by the Naples Daily News, with winners in each category determined entirely by reader votes.
