Tryon Estates resident 89-year-old Pat Dockendorf won 1st place medals in five swimming events at the inaugural USA Masters Games recently. Her victories include 200-meter breaststroke, 100-meter breaststroke, 50-meter breaststroke, 25-meter backstroke and 100-meter medley relay. Congratulations, Pat!
The inaugural USA Masters Games, held in Greensboro, NC, marked the launch of a new multi-sport event for competitive adult athletes. The games featured 24 sports and provide both a "national and championship level" competitive experience in each sport as well as a fun, entertaining environment conducive to meeting and socializing with fellow Masters athletes from across the US.
