A motivated group of 43 Park Pointe Village residents completed a six-week fitness and healthy eating program recently. The team embarked an exercise program modeled after the Presidential Active Lifestyle (PAL) Program which challenges participants to make physical activity and nutrition a priority in their everyday lives. The residents committed to exercising five days a week for at least thirty minutes and making healthy food choices. Each person set their own goal and maintained a daily log of activity and their meals. As a result, they reported to have developed improved balance and experienced weight loss as well as increased mobility and stamina. Park Pointe Village's Culinary and Dietary Departments supported the group's endeavor by providing healthier food choices and distributing educational nutrition literature in the dining room. Each resident received an official certificate of completion signed by President Obama and a PAL lapel pin.
