Veteran, 98, Soars Once More in B-17 Flight
Lima Estates resident Woodie Benson recently took to the clouds in a B-17 for the first time since May 1944. The World War II veteran – an Army Air Corp navigator in the 57th Troop Carrier Squadron – was the Guest of Honor when the vintage B-17 Aluminum Overcast flew to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in October. Benson was invited by the B-17’s pilot - a nephew of Benson’s former commanding officer. A video commemorating the special day is available to view on the Acts Facebook and YouTube pages.
Well, Doesn’t That Take the Pancake?!
Sure, there’s a so-called “National Holiday” for everything these days, but National Pancake Day has to be one
of the residents’ favorites. This year, Country House went so far as to set up a made-to-order pancake bar, which was a big hit. We can’t wait to see what the communities do next year to stack up to that idea.
Lorraine Sullivan hit a home run with the strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips and chopped pecans option!
Heron Point Gets Helping Hand for Fall Cleanup
Residents from Heron Point recently welcomed members of Washington College’s Student Government Association for the group’s annual iServe event. The students donated their time and energy by helping perform cleanup duties around the campus, including raking leaves, pulling weeds and other odds and ends.
