 In this edition of Friends & Neighbors we continue a new series called Meet the Acts Board highlighting some of the dedicated individuals who voluntarily govern the Acts organization all while ensuring adherence to our faith-based mission, values and vision.
  Thomas Clemens
Tom Clemens is a fourth-generation shareholder and officer of privately owned and Pennsylvania-based Clemens Family Corporation, which operates one of the largest pork production and processing companies in the United States. Tom leads the family’s real estate and investment group and serves in an advising capacity with the family’s cornerstone business Clemens Food Group (also known as Hatfield Quality Meats). Tom earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree from Muhlenberg College and his MBA from Saint Joseph’s
University. He currently serves as a board director for Harleysville Savings Bank. In addition to serving on the Acts Retirement-Life Communities board as a volunteer, Tom gives his time to the Salvation Army and the Eagles Fly for Leukemia organizations. Tom is also a life member of the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company.
Why Did You Decide to Join the Acts Board?
The reason I decided to join Acts is essentially its Vision: “where Loving-Kindness and Christian ideals
are practiced to meet the needs of those we serve.” The Bible states in Micah 6:8, “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” It is in this faith-filled spirit that I am honored and firmly committed to serving this great organization and our mission to enhance the lives of seniors.
Annlouise Devenney
Annlouise Devenney has served on the Acts Board since 2010 and is a resident of Fort Washington Estates. As a registered nurse, she functioned as a staff nurse, supervisor
and instructor for eight years and as the Education Director of the School of Nursing, Staff Development and Associate Director of the hospital-wide Nursing and Education Departments at the Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania Health System. Now in retirement, she maintains active involvement in hospital, community and volunteer organizations. Annlouise
graduated from the RN program at Pennsylvania Hospital and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Temple University, Master of Science in Health Education at St. Joseph’s University, Master of Science in Nursing from the Graduate School at Boston College and post-master’s in Administration at Villanova University. She completed certification programs in clinical nursing, staff education and advanced nursing administration from the American Nursing Association’s credentialing center. Annlouise was appointed as an adjunct professor at Community College of Philadelphia, Gwynedd Mercy University, Jefferson University, and University of Pennsylvania, Trenton State and Villanova University. Additionally, she mentored graduate student candidates, pursued doctoral studies at Temple University and was an accreditation visitor for the National League of Nursing. Annlouise was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau (the National Honor Society of Nursing) and received the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Award for service to humanity.
Why Did You Decide to Join the Acts Board?
As a resident, past president of both the Fort Washington Estates Resident’s Association and the Council of Presidents, I have had the unique opportunity to influence the lives of residents and continue to do so as a board member. The Acts organization is the “home of Loving-Kindness” and is the perfect place to take my God-given talents and humbly put them into action for the glory of God.
