A Spirit-Filled Acts Tradition For the 30th consecutive year, Acts held its annual Faith and Fellowship Lunch. This year’s event occurred on May 18, where approximately 150 residents from eight Acts communities gathered at Granite Farms Estates to share a delicious meal, fellowship and listen to an inspirational message in recognition of our faith-based heritage. This much anticipated celebration supports our wellness philosophy, which encourages the development of body, mind and spirit, and it certainly buoyed the spirits of all who attended. Are you seeking counsel or need a compassionate listening ear? Caring for the spiritual needs of our residents and staff is focus of every Acts chaplain within the community. Encouraged by their faith and by God’s Word, Acts chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support to our residents, their families and Acts employees. A New Favorite Fitness Amenity: The CyberCycle Acts communities have recently welcomed a new amenity that is quickly catching on as a popular, effective and fun way to workout. The CyberCycle is an interactive exercise bike that requires riders to pedal, steer and shift as if riding a bike uphill, downhill and through different scenic courses. Equipped with SmartTouch technology, the CyberCycle provides a personalized, fun and interactive cardio workout that supports both physical and cognitive functioning. Riders can also choose to play games where points are awarded based on the ability to maneuver the bike through a timed course. Registered riders are able to store their workouts so they can track the distance and time of each of their rides. The technology of the bike also allows riders to compete against Marlyn Kefauver, of Edgewater at Boca Pointe, enjoys the CyberCycle’s gaming programs. Country House residents enjoying a workout on the CyberCycle are (from left) Susan Moran and Nancy Gemmell. other riders on the same course. Each ride has a leaderboard that lists the fastest times from riders all over the world. Many Acts residents and staff are on the leaderboards for various courses. Plantation Estates, Spring House Estates and Lanier Village Estates are among the top 25 on the Worldwide Leaderboard for the number of miles logged on the bike! Many Acts fitness trainers have commented that there are individuals using the CyberCycle that were not previously active participants of the community’s fitness programs. Kerry Wein, Fitness Trainer at Fort Washington Estates, said that “the CyberCycle has brought a new energy to the Fitness Center.” 5
