 The Benevolent Funds of Acts
Benevolence is the desire to help someone or a feeling of goodwill toward others. Many mission-driven organizations establish benevolent funds with the specific purpose to help others through financially difficult times. The Acts Samaritan Fund and the Acts Employee Catastrophic Fund are the benevolent funds of Acts. Acts Legacy Foundation facilitates the fundraising and stewardship of these funds.
At the time of inception, over 30 years ago for the Acts Samaritan Fund, and over 15 years for the Employee Catastrophic Fund, the founders recognized the need and knew that they wanted to help residents and employees through financial difficulties. They could never have anticipated the onslaught of vulnerability brought on by COVID-19. We are reminded now more than ever before of the need to keep these funds healthy for the sake of our residents and employees.
Through the Acts and community Samaritan Funds, the Foundation directed charitable assets for assistance in fulfilling its resident benevolence commitments. The Acts Employee Catastrophic Fund benefits employees through benevolent emergency assistance.
Resident and employee giving are the primary source of funding for the benevolent funds of Acts. Annual gifts, resident monthly fee statement or payroll contributions, and several generous transformative gifts through resident bequests have provided important support to residents and employees in their time of need.
     ACTS SAMARITAN FUNDS
This fund helps relieve the financial burden, through direct fee assistance, which can confront any Acts resident when unexpected dissipation of personal resources, through no fault of their own, makes it difficult or even impossible to meet the total cost of care. When community specific resident assistance funds are insufficient, this greatest need fund supplements the community in meeting their specific benevolent resident assistance needs. Direct donations to the Acts Samaritan Fund allows greater flexibility and assures that the need of every community is met.
