   Acts Samaritan Fund This fund helps relieve the financial burden, through direct fee assistance, which can confront any of the more than 10,000 Acts residents when unexpected dissipation of personal resources makes it difficult or even impossible to meet the total cost of care. When community specific benevolent resident assistance funds, known as Samaritan, Benevolence and Heritage Funds, are insufficient, this greatest need fund supplements the community in meeting their specific benevolent resident assistance financial need.  Acts Disciple Fund A unique program for retired members of the clergy of all faiths with limited personal resources. This fund provides assistance to reduce entrance and/or maintenance fees for residency in an Acts community.  Acts Mission Development Funds Capital Campaigns in targeted communities support improvements and expansion of dedicated chapel spaces, WillowBrooke Court quality-of-life projects and commemorative gardens. Gifts for this purpose are allocated to selected community campaigns active on an annual basis.  Acts Employee Catastrophic Assistance Fund With approximately 8,000 employees, Acts expects that some individuals may experience a catastrophic life event or even a regional natural disaster impacting many employees of the Acts family. This fund provides for one-time financial assistance to employees facing these unique circumstances with assistance of up to $2,500.  Memory Support Services Fund This fund enables the acquisition of state-of- the art equipment, staff education, facility expansion and improvement, and ongoing support for dementia programs and services.  J. Mark Vanderbeck Memorial Scholarship Fund When Acts CEO J. Mark Vanderbeck unexpectedly passed away in 2017, Acts established the J. Mark Vanderbeck Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports the educational and career development of Acts employees. Mark was passionate about employee training and development within the Acts organization. This fund honors his legacy through employee scholarships.  Acts Corporate University Acts Corporate University (ACU) provides education and professional development programs to staff persons throughout the organization promoting enhanced job performance and career growth opportunities. From trades certification to advanced degree completion, ACU works to help staff achieve their goals while also assuring the timely and thorough completion of job-related trainings. The Acts Corporate University fund supports the activities of ACU in enhancing job skills, promoting growth and career pathing, and delivering the highest level of service to residents.  Acts Center for Applied Research The Acts Center for Applied Research (ACAR), formerly known as the Acts Gerontological Research Institute, supports Acts and related academic and industry groups in research development activities focused on enhancing the lives of seniors. ACAR partners with universities and academic entities across the globe to engage in applied research focusing on the health, well-being, and future of seniors. ACAR further focuses on the market activities of Acts and senior consumers to better understand current environments and prepare for the future. The Acts Center for Applied Research fund supports the ongoing activities of ACAR and the vision of a brighter future. 35 Acts Family of Charitable Funds The Acts Family of Charitable Funds support benevolence, program and mission development objectives core to the Acts Retirement-Life Communities mission for all Acts communities, residents and employees.  2018 Donor Report
