Magnolia Trace Completes $1.7 Million Renovation

October 5, 2010

HUNTSVILLE, AL, October 5, 2010 — Magnolia Trace, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Huntsville, celebrated the grand opening of a $1.7 million community enhancement on October 5 that features a new model of senior care widely lauded within the healthcare industry for its service delivery and architectural design.

ACTS Retirement-Life Communities, the not-for-profit parent company of Magnolia Trace, is adding a fully-licensed and certified assisted living residence to the campus, called OakBridge Terrace, which will accommodate residents in 30 private suites. The project also includes the addition of a new memory enhancement and dementia unit consisting of 19 suites. The health care services at Magnolia Trace are provided with no increase to a resident’s monthly fee under the community’s life care plan, and are also available to non-residents upon direct admission.

“We’ve created a more comfortable resident-centered setting that features larger living and activity areas, new state-of-the-art equipment, furniture, and technologies,” said Donna Olson, executive director of Magnolia Trace. “Our residents who need a higher level of care will live in environments that allow for more privacy, cared for by a staff who know them well, and where they will enjoy many of the comforts and routines of home.”

The renovations at Magnolia Trace follow a nationwide movement to make senior care more homelike and person-centered, where residents live in areas referred to as “neighborhoods” and share a kitchen, dining room and living room. Other features include flexible schedules and activities, enhanced dining options, as well as larger living spaces and activity areas that promote socialization.

Magnolia Trace is a faith-based, not-for-profit retirement community located at
One Clubhouse Avenue in south Huntsville that offers an array of services and amenities designed to help seniors maintain health and independence. The 43-acre campus includes multiple residential styles, services and levels of health care. Magnolia Trace is owned and managed by ACTS Retirement-Life Communities.
