WILMINGTON, DE -- As a not-for-profit senior services organization, Methodist Country House makes it a priority to re-invest monies into keeping the community one of the top retirement destinations in Delaware. This tradition will continue at this fully accredited continuing care retirement community as it recently affiliated with ACTS Retirement-Life Communities, the largest not-for-profit owner, operator and developer of CCRCs in the United States.
Country House's most recent resident beautification project has turned a hallway into a walkway of art. In the beginning, 4700 Hall was decorated only by seven stark white frames on its walls. With Executive Director Terri White’s approval and Dain Mergenthaler’s help, Regal painters tinted the frames to blend with the wallpaper. Next, five resident members of the Country House Art Class, studied a picture of an 18th century Japanese screen and drew inspiration to paint their version on each panel. Jean Alderson, Dottie Bergman, Dolores Colgate, Jessie Foley and Jean Hoff accepted the challenge. The art teacher, George Martz, stepped in and completed the two unassigned frames. The final touches came from Regal Painters who painted a gold border around all seven panels, and Hiroko Stoesser who helped the artist write their names in Japanese. Thanks to the commitment of residents, the 4700 hall has become a “must see” destination at Country House.
