Coxson III was recently called to Governor Rick Scott’s office on behalf of his work on a legislative bill affecting seniors across the state. Coxson served as chairman of the FAHSA/FLiCRA Task Force that wrote CS/CS/CS/HB 1037-Continuing Care Retirement Communities. This was the first time in 10 years that the Governor actually signed a FAHSA bill in his personal office.

The passage of this new law was the accumulation of work by the FAHSA/FLiCRA Task Force and members of the FAHSA advocacy team statewide over the last year. The law provides Florida's seniors with additional options for care at-home, and creates new, much-needed jobs for Floridians.

ACTS Retirement-Life Communities, parent company of Indian River Estates, is the nation’s largest not-for-profit owner and operator of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). FAHSA was established in 1963 as a Florida not-for-profit corporation. Its purpose is to provide leadership, advocacy, and education for retirement housing and nursing home communities that serve the needs of Florida's retirees. FAHSA is committed to assisting its members in providing the highest quality of services possible to the residents they serve. FAHSA is comprised of approximately 500 of the state's premier elder care organizations and business associates. More than 70,000 elder persons reside in FAHSA-member communities.
