BOCA RATON, FL, January 25, 2010 -- Edgewater Pointe Estates, St. Andrews Estates and ACTS Retirement-Life Communities’ Florida Region Office employees began a Haitian relief project the day the calamity was announced. “Many wonderful Haitians are among the ranks of ACTS’ workforce in Florida and Pennsylvania, and we want to show our support for their loss,” said PR Manager Colleen Wilson. Each retirement campus held a special prayer service for employees/residents, ACTS made available grief counselors, and each Boca campus posted a Haitian Relief Station/bulletin board with informative updates for employees.
Within one week, 33 boxes of personal hygiene items, blankets, flashlights and non-perishable food were collected and dropped off to Missionary Flights International. An additional 40 cases of baby diapers, wipes and more than two dozen walkers, wheel chairs and canes were sent via a private chartered plane carrying Palm Beach county doctors and nurses to aid in the recovery.
