PUMH Foundation

About the Foundation

Established in 2000, the Foundation, in conjunction with its Board of Directors and Resident Foundation Advisors, currently develops and implements strategies to manage and increase the philanthropic efforts of the continuing care retirement communities of Methodist Country House, Methodist Manor House, Cokesbury Village, and Heron Point of Chestertown and their residents. The Foundation helps to expand their mission to provide maximum outreach and services for older adults residing in these Delaware and Maryland communities and the surrounding areas.

The Foundation is staffed by fund development specialists who provide advice when fund raising is required; offer education about charitable giving to individuals and groups; and expand opportunities for increased services, programs and capital projects within these communities.

Current endowed funds under investment total $8.8 million. A donor base of over 5,000 individuals and organizations is committed to continued capital and programming improvements and furthering the mission of the communities. Donors include residents and their families, friends, employees, vendors, corporations and other private foundations, all important to the success of a campaign. Other Foundation programs include administration of benevolence and community scholarship programs, charitable gift annuity seminars, Mother’s Day and Cornerstone Fund appeals.

Board

The PUMH Foundation is governed by its own Board of Directors that is broadly representative of the Delaware and Maryland communities and resident constituents. These volunteers serve as advocates to help provide stewardship of donor funds and disburse them in response to urgent community needs that will improve the lives of residents or assist residents who may have outlived their available resources and to foster long-term legacies in caring, diversity, excellence, integrity and trust.
